Mike and I have always wondered what kind of cat Willa really is. I guess we just thought she was a Domestic Short Hair (DSH) or mutt, in human-speak. She came to us during hurricane season last year--surviving in the wild through THREE hurricanes! After all that, it was as if she decided to live with us.

A few days ago, we were watching Animal Cops on Animal Planet. The episode had a rescue at a house filled with Bengal cats from a breeder. The poor things were wild and scared.

But they looked strangely familiar! So, I googled Bengal cats and found this on the International Bengal Cat Society page:

It turns out that one of my favorite stores, Target, has allowed its pharmacists to refuse to fill certain prescriptions--ones for emergency contraception, that is. This is so not right! How could Target allow this? The pharmacist's personal views should not dictate what prescriptions they fill or do not fill. Planned Parenthood has stepped to the plate yet again. The New York Times has an article entitled, A Pioneer of the Big Box Builds a Tank for Some Very Big Fish, and I must say, I am intrigued. The Georgia Aquarium is set to open in November in Atlanta. It is funded by one of the founders of The Home Depot. And it will have 5 million gallons of water!! Over 100,000 living creatures!! That's quite an accomplishment. According to the article there are also 2 Asian Whale Sharks. These have never been seen in America. Wow! This to me seems worth a trip to Atlanta!!

Google Maps has now added satellite imagery to their mapping system. You'll see on the page at the top right. Click "Map" for a straight-up old fashioned map, "Satellite" for a, well, satellite-only image, and (this is the best) "Hybrid" for a combination of the two. This is really fun, unless your area hasn't been completely satellite-mapped, that is. It is truly amazing how close in the camera can get from a satellite. A bit scary, come to think of it!!

Dana and Matt got a new kitten a few weeks ago. Isn't it darling??? It resembles Sophie in color, but will be long hair. He'll be a big one--check out those ears and paws!! And it's great, as he's very good with their 10-month-old baby Mikayla and puts up with her pulling his ears. He is probably the most laid-back cat I've ever met. And his name is Tigger.

The Strange Doll Series really moved me in some utterly bizarre way. They sort of remind me of Tony Oursler from the 90's. They are a bit repulsive, but yet they draw you in. I guess I've always been oddly interested in scary dolls. I've recently learned of Dare Wright and her Lonely Doll series. And then there are the Blythe dolls. Sadly, the show has ended. But I recently (or should I say finally?) picked up a copy of the book. Very nice indeed! And I was THRILLED to find my name in print.
